Environmental Health Unit Sensitises Pakro Community on the Upcoming Sanitation Day

2026_sanitation day sensitisation The Environmental Health Directorate embarked on a sensitisation programme to educate residents of Pakro on the upcoming Sanitation Day, on the 5th February, 2026.

The exercise aimed to inform the public about the importance of preparedness in the exercise which is celebrated on every first Saturday of the month to tidy up communities to eradicate diseases.

The public campaign was to indulge their active participation in the exercise, including activities such as weeding, sweeping, desilting, amongst others.

During the campaign, the Municipal Environmental Health Officer (MEHO), Mr Paul Mensah, identified areas with overgrown weeds, rubbish damps, water logged areas and other locations requiring cleaning.

The team also engaged community stakeholders to discuss the provision of necessary logistics to support the exercise. Priority areas earmarked for cleaning were subsequently highlighted.

The sensitisation exercise successfully heightened awareness among residents of Pakro on the need for collective responsibility and active participation in the upcoming Sanitation Day.

Through community engagement and the identification of critical areas requiring attention, the unit laid the groundwork for a well-coordinated and effective exercise.
